Beckie Michael, DO, FACOI, FASN

Dr. Beckie Michael is board certified in nephrology and internal medicine. She has been designated a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension and is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists. In 2008, she received the designation “Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology” (FASN). FASN status represents recognition by the Society of outstanding credentials, high professional achievement, commitment to the field of nephrology, and demonstrated scholarship. She has been named a Top Physician by South Jersey Magazine, SJ Magazine and Philadelphia Magazine. Dr. Michael was a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Dialysis Services at Thomas Jefferson University before founding Marlton Nephrology and Hypertension in 2006. She is currently Medical Director of DaVita Marlton Dialysis Center and is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. She is a member of Virtua Physician Partners and is an affiliate of Thomas Jefferson University Kidney Transplant Program. 

Dr. Michael received her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1989. Her postgraduate education includes an internal medicine residency at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – School of Osteopathic Medicine/Kennedy Memorial Hospitals University Medical Center and a nephrology fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Michael has been an investigator in many research studies evaluating new therapies for patients with chronic kidney disease. She has published articles and lectured widely on topics including chronic kidney disease, hypertension, metabolic bone disease and anemia. 

Dr. Michael is a member of several professional organizations including the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) and Renal Physicians Association. In 2016, she was nominated Chairperson of the ASN Practicing Nephrologists Advisory Group. She was previously a volunteer reviewer for NephSap®, the Nephrology Self-Assessment Program sponsored by ASN, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Kidney Foundation of the Delaware Valley for many years.
